It’s that time of year again. The roads are full of yellow buses, the school yards with kids, the stadiums with sports teams and marching bands. I love fall, I love school. And while I only have 1 student left who is starting her 2nd year of a PhD program I still pray fervently for this school year.
I found this prayer in the Common Book of Prayer
O Eternal God, bless all schools, colleges, and universities
that they may be lively centers for
sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom;
and grant that those who teach and those who learn may find
you to be the source of all truth; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.
I think it is a great start but I modified it some but I think education includes basic principles and morals begins at home:
O Eternal God, bless all schools, colleges, universities and homes
[and especially ____the homes ______], that they may be lively centers for
sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom;
may those educational facilities & homes be a safe haven for self discovery and growth,
May all who parent, teach, lead, adminster, serve, drive, come in contact with our students and the students
themselves find you to be the source of all truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
