One of the perks of attending the Stampin’ UP! convention as a demonstrator is shopping at the Memento Mall. Great Logo & Exclusive SU image merchandise. This year one of the hot features were these really cool pop up trash cans. Perfect for keeping your spot clean at home parties, crops, classes. They are held closed by this great elastic loop and when they pop “up” they are about 9 1/2 x 6 inches.
I was able to pick some up for Stamp World but didn’t want a trash can that large on the table. Those coming to class are used to a small container on the table for their snips and scraps, but these pop ups while cool where a little larger than what I wanted. So I got creative and came up with this idea. Now to make new placemats for different seasons.
I started with black gingham tea towels and then sewed on retired SU ribbon (Pig tails and Gray Taffeta) cut fabric with Tasteful Trim XL die and sewed that on as well. Simple and cute way to dress up a tea towel. I created a small loop from the ric rac and sewed it thoroughly then attached the trash can with a small carabiner clip (lowe’s).
