I love it when an idea in my head actually works. Sometimes I “see” things that when created I wonder where the disconnect was/is. This time however it all came together. I took advantage of the kids getting tired of beating mom & dad at WII, cards, board games during our snow day here on the east coast and their subsequent escape to computer land to work on some projects for my January events.
Join me in January at my BIRDS OF A Feather Class – This mini birdhouse along with homemade suet and some fun bird house cards will be on the agenda. Watch for sneak peaks of those.
The awesome trees these birdhouses are on were found at JC Penney’s earlier this fall on clearance. I bought 3 and now wish I had more. So versatile. Of course I had to dismantle the centerpiece on my table to hang the bird houses. Sorry Christmas.
Supplies used – Milk carton die (to be released January 5th), Scallop trim border bunch (free with $50 purchase during sale-a-bration), Pinking Hearts border bunch (to be released January 5th), Table Setting Die (not available after January 4th -get yours today), Kraft Cardstock, White Confetti Cardstock, Tan Confetti Cardstock, Soft Suede Cardstock, Woodgrain Background Stamp, Medallion Stamp, Buttons, Two Step Bird Punch (Available January 5th), Linen Thread, Buttons, Printed Bible Verses, Sizzix Alphabet die, Vintage Brads, Wide Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Welcome Neighbor Designer Series Paper Pad (Free with $50 purchase during Sale-a-bration).
Sticky Strip Tip – I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE sticky strip but have found the red backing in my laundry, on the bathroom floor, in my bed (don’t ask) just about everywhere. It follows you. Here is my $1,000 Tip. When working with Sticky strip – run about a 2″ strip of snail or sticky strip adhesive on a scrap piece of paper – as you peel the red backing from the sticky strip – stick it to the snail/adhesive – now it can’t follow you.
Crafting Joy with Birds
Jan
Hi Jan. As the snow fell here, I found myself warm and cozy inside while my children went crazy outside. I’m sorry to say I didn’t create anything. I did browse my idea files and magazines and catalogs and came up with a long list of things to make in the future; that’s a start. 🙂
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your bird house tree. It is perfect. I am totally jealous and wish I had one. I’m so glad you went with your creative spark and the result is amazing.
And your tip on the sticky strip– yes I have that same problem. Thank you for the help finally. Now if I could just figure out how to handle the glitter I sprinkle around with me wherever I go.

A to do list is a great place to start. now carve out some “me” time and play a little, glitter and all!
Jan Just beautiful what a great class Idea. Glad it worked out. Thanks so much for sharing. Robin
Thanks for the great tip. I too have found those reds strips all over!! Can’t wait to try a birdhouse or two!
What a great idea (wish I read it a couple hours ago ) Any tips for glitter-my bed is just a few of the places I have found it!!! LOL
Glitter is a whole ‘nother story. I do have a “glitter station” in my work room that way it helps a little. It is the only place “gittering” is done.
Absolutely adorable! I can’t wait to try making one of these…maybe filling them with the little robin egg candies at Easter, hmm? Thank you so much for sharing your talents!
Totally forgot about those candies. Put it on my calendar as a note to buy. HOw smart. Thanks for sharing.
OMG! This is amazing, I love this idea. what a great class!! I wish I lived closer so I could attend. Sometimes being the lone wolf demonstrator of Daytona Beach, Fl has advantages, but I really would love to go to a class where all materials were prepped and I just got to be the student for a change!! But I will just have to continie to teach myself by looking at your amazing creations online. Hope to see you at leadership. I am a friend of Jennifer Thompson’s from leadership last year!
Hopefully you are able to take advantage of SU events – leadership, convention.
You are just so brilliant. They are darling. Another great tip with the adhesive is to put a bit of tape on the rim of your trash can. That way it makes it in there and stays there. I love the idea of the paper too. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration of the birdhouse. Now I have to get the milk carton. Hey Santa, there’s still time.

You are right!!! That tip is worth $1000!! I am definitely going to have to case this bird tree…when I get the milkbox die!
Thanks for sharing!!
