I have been MIA for a bit as I enjoyed one of a mother’s greatest joys – her daughter’s wedding.  As a mother there are so many moments – learning you are pregnant, carrying your child, birthing your child, graduations, and more. But the joy in knowing she has found someone who treasures her and will take care of her like you do, and loves her unconditionally, and is helping her continue to grow in the next phase of her life is unreal. I am sure I am not the only mother who
a. Knew no one could love her any more than you do
b. Knew that no one would ever meet  your standards for her
c. Knew that her daughters own deal breaker list was worrisome and that a & b wouldn’t happen because of it
d. Dreamed of her daughter’s wedding day

What a feeling to bring Kristin and Nate’s vision they had of the day, the weekend to life. Even though the wedding was happening now far from our in Pennsylvania (Antrim 1844 in Taneytown, MD) with Kristin and Nate residing in Louisiana in many aspects it was like planning a destination wedding. With only a few trips home between the engagement and the wedding social media really played a part in pulling it all together.

I will tell you the 1.5 years of planning flew. At first it seemed like it would take forever for the big day to arrive but it was here before you knew it. All the timelines/planning guides out there are great BUT they are just guidelines and you will find the need to alter them to fit what is really happening in your life. For us changes to the timing of how things “typically” go were changed up based on Kristin’s ability to come home, rsvp deadlines, and my business schedule since I was the DIY’er pulling it all together for them.

I do know these were key elements
a. Communication
b. Clear Vision
c. Planning skills
d. Delegating
e. Flexibility
f. Focus on the main thing – the reason for it all

Without those 6 elements I don’t know how it would have all come together while being FUN in the process. And as much as we were focused on the final outcome with just one daughter the process of making it happen was just as much a part of the event as the big day itself and important to us.
Join me as I take you on a journey (appropriately so given their vintage travel theme)of pulling off one amazing day. I will be sharing real life practical tips of how we worked together across the miles, how we used social media, budgeting, videos on the DIY projects, including the groom and more. I will also be revisiting the blog posts as professional photos become available. Blog posts will not be every day as I continue to focus on my business of Stampin’ UP! but will all be linked together.
