Big Shot Felt Easter Eggs

This project is a great way to use up ribbon scraps. I used the Big Shot Scalloped Oval Die, Craft Felt (Boiled felt, felted wool is too stiff for this) and ribbon scraps as well as pieces of the scallop from the die for some fun, non fragile Easter eggs.

Decorate One oval with ribbon with scalloped pieces
Lay two ovals together with ribbon facing inside, stitch around edges leaving a small opening
Turn Egg outside in
Stuff with poly fill
Stitch opening
Place in basket
Enjoy!

RemARKable GOING GREEN BLOG TOUR DAY #1 – Big Shot Easter Table Runner

Welcome to another RemARKable Stampers Blog Tour – this time around we are focusing on Going Green. I am excited to see how the RemARKable’s embrace this idea in their projects.

I did a little web surfing for the definition of “GOING GREEN” and this is one that I found that I could relate to…

Going green is a popular term used to describe the process of changing one’s lifestyle for the safety and benefit of the environment. People who “go green” make decisions about their daily lives while considering what impact the outcome of those decisions may have on global warming, pollution, loss of animal habitats, and other environmental concerns.

I thought this definition was appropriate in that my project today focuses on using scraps & repurposing and anytime I can use scraps it benefits the Stamp World environment by decreasing the pile/boxes, etc.  One of the best ways to use scraps is to have them organized. If you can’t find it you can’t use it. In addition to sharing my projects with you the next 3 days I will be sharing with you how I organize my scraps so that I can use them. Now mind you Stampin’ UP! is my career, what I do full time, so between meetings, diva events, customer events, crops and more I have a TON of scraps to use.

USING SCRAPS – What to do with scraps

REPURPOSED Pillow Cases – I couldn’t find what I wanted for Easter for my table so I created what I wanted from old Pink Pillow Cases. I incorporated The Large Scallop Oval For Big Shot (just the oval), Big Shot Serif Essentials Alphabet, Premium Cream Felt, Assorted Fabrics, Old Olive Satin Ribbon, Old Olive Wide Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Old Lace, Gotta Love fusible webbing it’s about the only time I like to iron.

Organization – Cardstock Scraps- I try to cut scraps into usuable sizes first – 1/4 sheet, 6×6, 3×3 – anything that is not this size goes into buckets you will see tomorrow. After cutting scraps to usable sizes they are sorted by color families. This makes it easy not only for me but guests at my Crop & Crafts, OPen Stamp events to make use of them. Before sorting my cs this way I always reached for a full sheet of cardstock first – this has sure helped me make use of what I have on hand.

See you tomorrow

Big Shot Felt Snowman

Had to have a little fun with all this snow (around 30 inches at our house – dont’ even ask how high some of the drifts were). This is not the best snowman, unfortunately for kids this snow is not the best for sledding or snow man making.  Hopefully her flowers and scarf make up for my lack of snowman skills.

Supplies – Premium Felt, Big Shot Scallop Square Die, Big Shot Large Flower Die, Big Shot Circles #2 Die.

I created small slits in the flower and circles to insert white floral wire through. The floral wire is stiff and poked easily into the snowman.  it also makes the flowers, eyes reusable season after season. Now to make a cute snowman bag to keep my snowman pieces in for next year.

These little felt cases are addictive. But before I go on can I say I LOVE MY JOB. I am blessed to be a Stampin’ UP! demonstrator. How cool is it to make things like this for a living? My work brings me so much joy and it is so much fun to have access to great products like the Big Shot, Ribbons, Buttons and more to add to great finds such as felt. I love having it all at my fingertips and being a demonstrator and purchasing at a discount allows that.

OK enough gushing about the job I love – I moved on to the TOP NOTE die for creating cases and have expanded to IPODS and thanks to Connie Stewart Feminine hygiene products – who knew we could stylishly carry those things?

General Notes – I used felted wool and hand stitching for all of these – which is pretty obvious but I love the look. Sometimes things can be too perfect!

Felt Top Note Brown – Top Note Big Shot Die, FLower With Leaves Die, Felted Wool, Embroidery thread, Retired Stampin’ UP! felt flowers, rhinestone brad – the flower and leaves on this are needle felted.

Felt Top Note Vanilla – Top Note Big Shot Die, Bird with Leaves and Flower Die, Dusty Durango Ribbon, Button Latte, Felted Wool, Lace, Embroidery thread, Rhinestone brad (rhinestone removed and adhered with Jewel it), microbeads (Bird adhered with fusible webbing)

Felt Top Note Blue – Top Note Die, Red Corduory Buttons, Circles #2 Big Shot Die, Playground Designer Buttons, Linen Thread, Serif Essentials Alphabet Die Big Shot, Fabric (J – adered with fusible webbing) .wide striped pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon, embroidery thread

Felt Top Note Pink – Top note Die, Stampin’ UP! Butterfly Big Shot Die, Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, Kraft Corduroy button, Linen Thread, Fabric, embroidery floss

Dont’ forget that you can make any of these cases (fancy favor or top note ) at any February or March Crop and craft. My crop and crafts are open to the public and demonstrators. See events above.
