MONSTER TREATS

My son Greg heads back to college this weekend. Indiana Road trip time!  This coming year at Rose-Hulman he will be serving as a Sophomore advisor. It’s a cool program that Rose-Hulman has in place.  A sophomore advisor is not an RA (those are juniors and above at Rose) instead the sophomore advisor is a mentor to the freshman having just completed their own freshman year with it’s “fresh” memories. In addition to mentoring they are tasked with making sure that no one hides in their room, that all are encouraged to be an active part of the student body. It’s been sweet to listen to Greg talk about “his freshman” referring to the students he will be mentoring on his floor. And it’s been amazing to see my quiet, geeky, brainiac blossom thanks to the programs like these at Rose. . I joke that we are really getting our  money’s worth. Rose’s way of building engineers who will be part of teams in the work place – works.  We had two prayers when we were looking for colleges with our kids 1) that God would use them 2) that the colleges they chose would be a good fit and help them beyond their studies.  God is good and he answered both prayers. 

Greg and his roommate Kirk wanted their room to be a comfortable place for the freshman to stop by. I decided nothing works better than treats. I made these treat containers for Greg & Kirk;s desks. The containers are shatterproof from Wal-mart – perfect for a boys dorm! Now to keep them stocked in Candy treat – Greg’s has his favorite sour patch kids – just waiting to learn Kirk’s favorite.

Stampin’ UP! Decor Elements Chalkboard Signs

Here is a great way to use our Decorative Decorate line of Decor Elements Vinyl and Chalkboard Vinyl.

I created signs that can be reused over and over again which is more environmentally friendly and more cost effective than a one time use poster board.

I used them on thin artist canvas which can be punched with our crop a dile and the best part is easily embellished with inks, stencils, brads, buttons, ribbons and more.  To hang them I used wrought iron wreath hangers which are sturdy and adjustable.

Featured Decor Elements included the retired Damask, current chalkboard Arrow and our Inspire, Create and Share definitions.

Share, create, inspire also feature Stampin’ UP! stencils and assorted bling – pearls, rhinestones, ribbon, smooch spray!

I superglued strong clips to some of the signs so that they could act as sign out boards or hold assorted “smaller signs” adding to their versatility and long term use.

Tabletop Chalkboard Easels – Decor Elements Vinyl

This is one of our April Crop & Craft projects (dates for April Crop & Crafts – April 17th,  April 22nd)

This fun and simple project features our awesome Chalkboard Decor Vinyl.  To hold the chalk on all of them I used left over business card holders I had from my Direct sales project. They are the perfect size!!
