TAKE 3 Tuesday – Waffle Paper – New from Stampin’ UP!

This new embellishment is described like this in the holiday mini (you can order beginning tomorrow)… “Waffle textured paper ideal for adding dimension to your projects. Super thin, but thick enough to mold and shape. Great for making ruffled accents. “ There are 2 assortments available Gold/Silver and Early Espresso/Basic Black – each roll in the pack is 8″ wide and 5 yards! WOW..
While they suggest “ruffles” go beyond ruffles. I used the waffle paper here to create unique background papers, flower stems and even embossed it with a texture impressions folder.
Ohhhhhh the “waffle-bilities”…
Waffle Scrapbook Page - On this page I adhered the waffle paper to a piece of cardstock (great to cover those scraps because it doesn’t matter what color is underneath) and I created stems for my flowers with waffle paper. Other Supplies – Wild Wasabi Cardstock, Early Espresso Cardstock, Daffodil Delight Cardstock, Word Play Stamp Set, White Craft Pad, White Embossing Powder, Daffodil Silk Ribbon, Vintage Brads, Circle Punch

Waffle Card – French Foliage Stamp Set, FYI Stamp Set, Wonderfully Worn Stamp Set, Pear Pizzaz Cardstock, Sahara Sand Cardstock, Vintage Tag, Early Espresso Ink, Pumpkin Pie Ink, Pear Pizzaz Ink, XL Decorative label punch, distressing tool , early espresso waffle paper

Waffle Snowflake Card – Welcome Christmas Stamp Set, Night of Navy Cardstock, Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Folder, Silver Waffle Papaer, Silver Glass Glitter, Silver Embossing Folder, Night of Navy Ink, Night of Navy Satin Ribbon

TAKE 3 TUESDAY – big shot BIGZ XL TASTEFUL TRIM DIE
This new die has quickly become my favorite between being able to cut rick rick over a yard long or using on scrapbook pages and cards I know that I have only just begun to explore the possibilities of this fun die. Here are some tips and ideas for using this die.
*JOIN MY BIG SHOT CLUB – 4 fun CLUB Kits to pick from – full details HERE
TASTEFUL TRIM BIGZ XL DIE -

Die cut pieces are 12″ long
Scallop is 3/4″ wide
Ric Rac is 1 1/2″ wide
Wavy ribbon piece is 1/2″ wide
Zig Zag is 1/4″ wide
TIP – only want to cut 1 trim – since lines are basically black on black – it can be hard to “see” exactly where to place your paper. Use dressmakers chalk to mark the lines - rub’s off paper and doesn’t stain your fabric.
TIP – save the “waste” – you will see a cute card at the end using these left over pieces – in addition as I stare at these I see “monster/jack o lantern teeth”, waves, mountains, and more.

TIP – Need trim longer than 12″ – simply cut the fabric slightly wider than the trim you want to use and slightly longer than the length you want – fan fold fabric (Big shot will cut 7/8 layers of fabric depending on wt of fabric) -lay this just inside the end cut mark of the trim you selected – run through big shot - now you have a long length of trim to work with. You can see this on my apron border below.

TIP – want a double scallop – simply cut your paper to twice the “width of the die” I cut slightly larger – for example for this double scallop I cut 1 6/8 instead of 1 1/2. Fold your cardstock/material in half. Run through big shot – open and now you have a scallop border.

TIP – heated ribbon flowers – at convention founder and CEO Shelli Gardner showed us these cool heated satin ribbon flowers. She “scalloped” the ribbon by hand. Here is a quicker and easier way – our tasteful trim die -cut your ribbon, heat with heat tool and create your flower. I will be teaching these at all upcoming Scrapbook classes & Crops as well as Big Shot classes.
*I also cut a piece of satin with the zig zag and added to my double scallop and the beginning of some great scrapbook embellishments.

TIP – Acetate masters – I like to create acetate masters of my big shot dies and label them with a sharpie listing their name and dimensions. This way I can use them to “see” how a patterned piece of dsp, photo would look cut, how the size would kit on my project, etc. I use the Stampin’ UP! heavier weight window sheets.

TIP – use either the actual trim or the “left overs” on your projects.

Tip – Scallop ruffle – I sewed two pieces of ribbon together (but you could also do fabric), open them up flat, cut with Trim die, than adhere to my apron creating a narrow ruffle. Just the beginning of some more possibilities.
